Your mark may be distinctive and unique. But there may already be a registered mark or an application for registration for a mark similar to yours and for similar goods or services in the country you wish to register in. As a result, your application to register your mark may be rejected and filing fees forfeited. If you proceed to use a mark which conflicts with a prior registered mark you will be infringing the prior registered mark and you may become liable for damages.
